Insurance Glossary S- Short-Term Disability
Short-term disability is insurance that provides benefits, often as a portion of salary, during a period of short-term disability as defined by the insurance company offering the benefits package. Also referred to as weekly indemnity. - Spouse
A spouse is the individual term for either a man or woman who are legally married or have been living with in a common-law arrangement. Common-law spouses are opposite gender partners who have openly resided together for at least 12 months. - Survivorship Clause
Survivorship is a stipulation requiring that the beneficiary survive the owner of the benefits package a set amount of time in order to receive the benefits.
